Passing of my Fargo
My beloved Fargo has a new home, so this is indeed both a sad and joyful day. I am stoked to have found someone who's life will be enhanced by the possession of this magical bike. My first Salsa, and the bike that helped me recapture my love of two wheeled travel. The bike has carried me almost 10,000 miles, over roads and dirt. It has been all around the US, through England, Ireland, Canada, and Africa. It has not only covered many miles, but served as the catalyst for countless new friendships with people and communities met along the way. The Fargo is without question the finest bike I have ever owned, and as such, one that will always have a special place in my heart.
I have asked Yan, Fargo's new owner, to write a series of posts for me as he begins his Adventure by Bike. Yan will be riding from Maine to his new home in Newfoundland starting in 2 days. I have rebuilt the bike from it's single speed roots back to a geared, go anywhere touring machine. Yan will be sharing his very moving personal story with us as well as a few posts from the road. Look for his first post in the Travel Journal in a couple of days.
For me, I will continue to tour on the Muk until I can work out a replacement for my every day touring rig. Luckily winter is coming and Fat is where it is at. I do love the Mukluk, but will sorely miss my the multi-purpose Fargo. Yan, may she provide you with many miles of fun, carrying you to places unknown as you build your own path day by day. Cheers my friend.
Travel in Peace and with much Love,
